12 Dates of Christmas Cherry Chip Loaf Recipe

Okay people, the 12 Dates of Christmas Cherry Chip Loaf turned out great.  It is so moist and yummy.  I was so excited to make this recipe and am so happy with the way it turned out.  So, as promised, here is the recipe.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.  If you haven't seen the movie before, you should check it out. It's a great feel good movie, The 12 Dates of Christmas, it's on Netflix!

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 Tbs. honey
2 eggs
1/2 cup apple sauce
1/4 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

Directions:
In medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.  Set aside.

In large bowl, cream butter and sugar until well combined.  Add vanilla and honey.  Gradually add eggs and apple sauce.

Gradually stir in flour mixture.

Stir in cherries.

Pour into greased and floured 9x5 loaf pan.  Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    1. So funny, you commented this a day before I watch the movie 12 Dates of Christmas. I would say to mix in the chocolate chips when you mix in the cherries. I've done that with the recipe and it turned out grand.

  2. That's funny; I looked up this recipe after watching the movie. I was wondering if they were referring to actual cherry chips; I think I've seen them in stores sometimes.

  3. Hi Amanda!

Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I loved that it had just the cherries in it! I am not a huge fan of chocolate with fruit in dessert dishes. I think you did a wonderful job! I am going to post this recipe on my blog also. So yummy!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  4. sweet! I also looked this up because of 12 Dates of Christmas - I've watched it every other day this month (I'm gonna cry when it's no longer on Netflix). My friend loves this movie so I'm gonna try the recipe for her birthday. Thanks!

  5. I made them into muffins (makes about 20). Bake for 18-21 minutes at 350. Came out very light and fluffy! Used whole 10oz. jar of maraschino cherries. Gonna add 1 cup pecans next time!
